Milk prices are up and going higher. How much does a gallon cost these days? I sure can’t keep track. Let’s assume $3.50/ gallon. You go through two gallons a week and that’s over $350 a year. Do you have a big family and go through four gallons? That’s over $700. How ’bout cheese and butter, do you use those? Add to the tally. I was just pricing Holstein Heifer dairy cows and discovered the average cost was between $1500 and $1900. It might be worth it to buy the cow, ’cause the milk certainly isn’t free these days. Of course, cows need to eat (grass) and drink (25 gallons H2O per day). Maybe a couple goats would be more appropriate.
